Quotes by Skinner

I'm currently reading Beyond Freedom & Dignity by B. F. Skinner, one of the few books by him left on my bucket list.  It is quite poignant that I am reading this book today when mankind is faced with such difficult problems that are best solved by a science of human behavior.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from chapter one, A Technology of Behavior:
  • "Twenty-five hundred years ago it might have been said that man understood himself as well as any other part of his world.  Today he is the thing he understands least" (pp 5).
  • "Who is to construct the controlling environment and to what end?" (pp. 22).
  • "Science is human behavior, and so is the opposition to science" (pp. 22).

New Blog, New Post

I'm not exactly sure what direction this blog will go.  All I know is that I spend a great deal of my free time thinking and talking about behavior analysis, science, education, politics, human affairs, and sports.  These ideas often go forgotten because I often fail to jot down notes for myself.  My hope is that by maintaining a blog, I can take these thoughts and ideas to the next level.
